The Blame Culture

This is my first blog so I will keep it brief in case there are errors etc.

I listened to a lady on Radio 5 Live yestrday who had worked as a carere for many years having  previosly been a nurse. She had lost her job with a care agency for breaching guidelines on lifting patients.
She had been asked to look in on a 95 year old lady who had been trying to contact her usual carers for hours. She found her in bed, soaked in urine and at risk of the acid in the urine causing skin problems. There was no indication as to when the carers would arrive. She lifted the lady herself onto a commode and began to attend to her. The carers arrived later ( not sure when) and all appeared ok, the lady was happy. Subsequently she was sacked for the procedural breach.

To me, this is procedure over common sense and it is indicative of the blame and claim culture in which we live. It is a manifestation of the greed aspects of the western world. Whatever word politicians put before capitalism , the one that best fits is greedy.
